  • Leaving the airport, take the International Highway towards San Jose.  Set the odometer to 0 when leaving the airport.
  • Go 7.8 miles towards San Jose until you pass a Best Western Motel and Denny's on your left, be in the right hand lane and prepare to exit right before the statue of the World. It is a fountain (that usually does not work) with a 10 to 12 foot round silver World on a pedestal. Take the right and continue straight.
  • At 11.2 miles you encounter the first “round about.” Go in at 12 o'clock and exit at 6 o'clock.
  • The second “round about” is at odometer reading 12.2 miles. Again, go in at 12 o'clock and exit at 6 o'clock. 
  • Continue straight and encounter the third “round about” at odometer reading 12.6 miles Again, go in at 12 o'clock and exit at 6 o'clock. A  La Guacamaya Department store and a large Hypermas (owned 1/3rd by Walmart) will be on your right while in the circle.
  • At odometer reading 14.1 miles, you enter the 4 th round about. Go in at 12 o'clock and exit at 9 o'clock. There will be a sign to Cartago, it is the first exit right.  This is the last round about. Continue straight.
  • At odometer reading 15 miles, after 3 or 4 lights, you will pass a Pricesmart on your right along with all of the fast food brands from the US. There are McDonalds, Churches Chicken, Pizza Hut, Burger King, etc. Continue straight past the Multi Plaza Mall on your right also. After passing the Multi Plaza Mall, move to the right lane. There is a “turn only left” ahead.
  • At odometer reading 15.8 miles, there is a sign to “Cartago.” DON”T TAKE THE TURN, go straight.
  • At odometer reading 16.1 miles, there is a stop sign. There are three lanes you can take after the stop sign, take the middle lane to Cartago.
  • At odometer reading 18.9 miles, you pass Terra Mall on your left and you are approaching a tollbooth. The charge is C75 or about 15 cents US.
  • At odometer reading 25 miles, The International Highway turns south or right and the road to the left takes you to Cartago. Keep going to and through Cartago.
  • Continue straight and pass a cemetery on your right and come to a traffic light, go straight (there is a McDonalds on the left) through Cartago.
  • At odometer reading 26.8 miles, you will pass the “Ruins of Saint Bartholomew” on your right, continue straight.
  • At odometer reading 27.2 miles you will pass the Byzantine style Basilica on your left, continue straight for 2 more blocks to odometer reading 27.4. The road will end at a “T” in the road. Turn right and continue for 2 more blocks where there is another “T” in the road. At odometer reading 27.5 miles, at the “T” you take a left towards Paraiso. You will continue straight for another 2.2 miles before the next right turn.
  • At odometer reading 29.3 miles, there is a Mega Super Grocery store on your left and a Shell gas station on your right, continue straight towards Paraiso another 4/10 th of a mile.
  • At odometer reading 29.7 miles you will pass a restaurant, Casa Vieja on your left, prepare to turn right on the next paved road. Your are 2.5 miles from the farm.
  • At odometer reading 30.1 miles, there is an ICE electrical substation on your right, take the gravel road to the left, the paved road turns right. Continue straight on the gravel road..
  • At odometer reading 31.3 miles, you will pass WPP weight station on your right, continue on the road where you pass the WPP guard station on your right at 31.5 miles.
  • At odometer reading 31.7 miles, there is a turn to the right, but you continue straight. Don't take the right turn. The first concrete electric pole numbered 7001-001 is here.
  • At odometer reading 31.8 miles, the road turns into a “Y” where you take the right.
  • Continue straight until odometer reading 32.3 miles and concrete pole number
    7001-012 is located. Welcome!!!
